Now that your child has been offered a seat at The Anderson School, you have 4 homework assignments!
Please follow the instructions below:
1. Email Donna Smiley and Marcie Shaw immediately to let us know whether or not you are accepting your child’s placement at Anderson:DSmiley@schools.nyc.gov ;MShaw6@schools.nyc.gov
2. Make an appointment to register your child at the school: http://bit.ly/AndersonRegistration
You must register your child on June 20th, 21st or 22nd (or make alternate arrangements with Donna or Marcie by June 23rd) or you will forfeit your seat at The Anderson School. If your child has NOT attended a Department of Education school before (such as a public Pre-K) you must bring your child with you, so plan accordingly! Please see more *registration requirements at the bottom of this page.
3. For incoming Kindergarten families only - confirm your attendance at our Kindergarten Orientation: http://bit.ly/Orientation_Picnic_MagicShow
Kindergarten Orientation takes place after your child is registered at Anderson. Your child will visit one of our Kindergarten classrooms along with other incoming students and engage in lots of fun activities with some of our teachers! This is a wonderful way for your child to see where he or she will be attending school in the fall and it really helps the transition to "big kid" school by dispelling any anxious feelings about what to expect in September. (The classroom your child visits may not be your child's room or teacher and the mix of students will certainly be different in September.) While your child visits the classroom, Principal Jodi Hyde, Parent Coordinator Marcie Shaw and Community Coordinator Donna Smiley, along with our PTA leaders will give you necessary information for the start of the school year.
Immediately following the orientation, the Anderson PTA invites your family to join us for a Class Picnic & Magic Show. The children can play on our new playground equipment with their new classmates and then enjoy entertainment from Mario the Magician (at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria.) Siblings are very welcome. Please bring your own dinner. Dessert & popcorn will be provided. Rain or shine! (If it rains, we’ll do it all inside the school.)
4. RSVP for the parents-only evening PTA Wine and Cheese Reception: http://bit.ly/welcome_to_anderson (be sure to enter your own email address when making your RSVP- it defaults to Marcie's email, sorry!) The Anderson PTA invites you to meet some veteran Anderson parents and some of your new “classmates” for wine and cheese.
For extra credit: If you have already registered at your local school, once you have registered at Anderson please don't forget to inform the school that your child will not be attending!
