Eleven of our students participated in the Greater New York Chess Championships on January 28 and 29th here in NYC. The Dragons played five games during a grueling ten hour day, competing head-to-head with many of the top-ranked chess schools in the tri-state area. The Primary Varsity team (Quentin Chen, Shubh Khanna, William Knoff, Dylan and Eric Zhang) came in 4th place, a half-point behind two schools that tied for second. Anderson was the top public school team in this section!  Two members of the team received individual trophies, including Quentin Chen (10th place) and Dylan Zhang (11th place). The Primary Novice team (Grant Caile, Saachi Khanna, Hugo Leuchars, and Kabir Singh) tied for 6th place. In addition to the teams above, Jesse Roonprapunt played in Primary K-1 and Riley Gordon played in the Elementary Championship sections.

Congratulations to our Chess Dragons! They’re headed to Nashville, TN for the K-6 National Elementary Championships from May 11-13th.  Anderson is fielding teams for all sections, from beginners to advanced players. All Chess Dragons are welcome!
